Tania always prefers to have a long talk with the client prior to the commission to listen carefully to their ideas and thoughts on the portrait, to ensure she understands the portrait they would hope to have. She will discuss clothing, pose, mood and overall composition with the client. She is also keen to absorb information about the personality of the sitter or sitters so as to reflect their true self within the portrait. Her aim is always to create the perfect portrait for the client, and she does this by gathering photographic reference, composition sketches and listening very carefully!

Once you have agreed the portrait commission a simple contract will be drawn up between you and the artist, and a deposit paid. The final instalment will be paid on completion.

Tania works primarily from photographic sources as it offers her the privacy and time to really scrutinize and engage with the subject and it is generally more convenient when painting young children. If local, Tania is happy to come to your home to take photos for reference, as it is always preferable for her to meet the subjects in person but if this is not possible, you may post a selection of digital images by email.  Portraits are painted in oil and presented on a medium texture, staple free edge cotton duck canvas. They are completed unframed, but Tania is more than happy to arrange or advise with framing.
